The DeHaven & Harless Memorial Trophy will be returning with the boys in blue to Ann Arbor in the fall of 2015.

DeHaven and Harless Memorial Trophy

The memorial trophy is named after the George DeHaven Jr and William Harless of both the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame. DeHaven and Harless became friends while enrolled at Notre Dame during the 1885-86 school year. Together they decided to leave Notre Dame in the fall of 1886 and enroll at Michigan. First Harless then DeHaven join the varsity football team and become starters at Michigan. As the story goes its Harless' brother Paul who convinces the two to bring the Notre Dame Football team to Michigan where the first ever match is played between the two schools at Notre Dame on November 23, 1887.

Starting in 2014, the rugby teams of Michigan and Notre Dame plan to play for the DeHaven and Harless & Trophy each fall.
