Stony Brook Takes Control of the Empire

Empire Rugby Conference

Stony Brook controlled Kings Point (United States Merchant Marine Academy) throughout the contest taking an early lead and scoring all of their four tries in the first half and holding on in the second for a 30-12 victory. The win puts Stony Brook on top of the Empire Conference and in great position for the ACRC Bowl Series on November 21-22 in Charlotte, NC.

Both teams went into last night's contest undefeated, but it was Stony Brook's Jimmy Sheridan that took control of the match early with two tries and a 10-0 lead.

USMMA kept it close with a try of their own before Stony Brook's Xavier Quinn, off a switch with Bryan Michel and a broken tackle, touched down. With PJ Abelein's conversion, the score was 17-5.

Phil Salter, scoring his ninth try of the season, and the Abelein conversion put the score at 24-5 with the Seawolves now in command.

Kings Point showed great resolve before the half scoring just before the half to bring the score to 24-12, Seawolves.

Stony Brook kept USMMA off the score board in the second half while PJ Abelein added two penaltys to take the final to 30-12.
