Western Michigan is In | MAC Wrap-Up

The ACRC Bowl Series welcomes Western Michigan to the line-up of great teams taking the field at the Rugby Athletic Center in Charlotte on Nov. 21-22.  

WMU posted a 4-2 record in 15s play this fall and was the runner-up in the 2014 Mid-American Conference playoffs, losing to conference champs Bowling Green on Nov. 9 but earning a bid to Charlotte, where they will play the runner-up from the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference.

Western Michigan competes in the Mid-American Conference North division. In addition to a 17-12 victory over MAC South division leader Dayton in the playoffs, the team saw dramatic wins this fall against Northern Illinois (44-0), Ball State (61-22), Central Michigan and Cincinnati, earning them a #16 finish in the ACRC Coaches Poll.  

Standout players this fall have included #8 and captain Tom Kacor and center Anthony Wrona. 

MAC Wrap-Up

An exciting season in the Mid-American Rugby Conference came down to a championship tournament last weekend, as top teams from the North and South divisions met at the Moose Rugby Grounds in Elkhart, IN.

On Saturday, Western Michigan (North #2) defeated Dayton (South #1) 17-12. Bowling Green (North #1) topped Miami of Ohio (South #2) by a score of 48-13.

Bowling Green prevailed over Western Michigan 31-22 on Sunday to earn the MAC Championship, while Dayton defeated Miami 34-15 to finish 3rd in the MAC.
