University of North Carolina

The University of North Carolina Rugby Football Club was established in 1966 and is one of the largest and most competitive club sports programs in the country. Head coach Johnathan Atkeison, in addition to running the men’s side, is a technical analyst with the USA Eagles national team and has led the UNC women to three consecutive South Regional Championships and two National Sweet 16s.

Fall 2014 has been a mixed bag so far for the Carolina men. After being on the losing side of a 14-0 defensive battle against Virginia Tech, the Tar Heels were victorious in their home opener against Virginia, beating the Cavaliers 27-12. The Heels lost another close one against Wake Forest by a score of 26-32 before being soundly defeated at home by Clemson 69-0.
