World Rugby Classic Returns to Bermuda in November
The 29th Annual World Rugby Classic will take place from the 6th to the 12th November with teams representing the British Isles (Classic Lions), France, Italy, Canada, the United States, Argentina, South Africa & New Zealand.
Club teams (British Army, Lloyds of London, Argentina and Chile) have also requested to play in Bermuda and World Rugby Classic is working on arrangements to include these teams.
On the day before the Classic starts the World Champions, New Zealand, will be playing Ireland in a test match in Chicago. A package is being developed with Irish Rugby Tours to encourage those traveling to Chicago to then come to the Classic.
World Rugby Classic on TV
Sky Sports showed the 2015 Classic on seven occasions over the Christmas holidays and the reach of the program was demonstrated with positive feedback from viewers in a dozen countries.
The Classic continues to be the catalyst for bringing many business people to Bermuda as Classic Week has become a major marketing event for Bermuda’s local & international business.
Corporate Hospitality Tents are already sold out for this year with the final tent being sold to a new company setting up in Bermuda this year.
The Members Tent remains extremely popular with those overseas companies who prefer this “turnkey” facility where they can reserve tables to entertain clients with meals, wine and an open bar all included.
This year World Rugby Classic is delighted to welcome the prestigious firm of Goldman Sachs to the Members Tent.
With Remembrance Day falling on the Friday organizers are working on arrangements to make Thursday, Friday & Saturday a major three day Classic event and are planning a concert on Friday.
Plans include bringing back the original Classic band, the Heartbeats from Ireland, who played at the Classic for ten years, to play alongside local talent.
Once again World Rugby Classic is working with Renaissance Re and the visiting teams to provide coaching sessions for Bermuda’s youth while also providing an opportunity, between matches, for Junior Rugby as well as Beyond Rugby.
