College Rugby: Weekend Highlights

Conference rivalries were on full display last weekend across the nation. Though some teams look strong enough to maintain their dominance through the fall, there's still a lot of rugby to be played before the ACRC Bowl Series in Charlotte (Nov. 20-22).    

Big 10: Indiana Overwhelms Purdue

It was never in doubt in Bloomington, as IU jumped out to a 47-0 lead at the half on the way to a 92-0 defeat of Purdue.

Rugby East: Iona Defeats Bonnies 

Head Coach Bruce McLane and the Iona Gaels led by Tyler Ringwood defeated the St. Bonaventure Bonnies and Head Coach Clarence Picard by a score of 33-10.

Mid-American: Miami U. Over Ball State

After an early second-half surge from the Redhawks, Ball State scored three straight tries to end the game but Miami held on to earn the one-point victory.

SCRC: Tennessee Trounces Vandy

Rugby Vols move to 2-0 in conference play and 3-0 overall with a decisive 72-3 victory over Vanderbilt.

Keystone: Villanova Defeats West Chester 

Villanova Rugby celebrates a big win over Keystone Rugby Conference rivals West Chester University. Nova led by Logan Khelil and Billy Gordon was able to overpower the Golden Rams 41-12.

ECRC: Boston College Continues to Roll 

Boston College defeated Northeastern by a lopsided score of 55-0. BC played clean and focused while celebrating parents' weekend at home.
