DEVONSHIRE, Bermuda - The Norwich University men's rugby put together an impressive performance at the Bermuda International 7s Tournament this past weekend, finishing as tournament runner-up after advancing to the Cup Final against the host Bermuda Under 23s.

In addition to the team's success, sophomore Kyle Krebs was named Player of the Tournament, recognizing his outstanding contributions throughout the competition.

The Cadets opened the tournament Friday night with a commanding display in pool play, defeating the University of Maryland Black II (Maryland's second side), 43-7, before securing a 29-0 shutout victory over Stony Brook.  Norwich closed the night with a hard-fought battle against Bermuda U23s, ultimately falling, 26-17, in a closely contested match.

Norwich entered Saturday's knockout stage determined to fight their way to the final.  The Cadets edged out Harvard University, 14-12, in the Bermuda International Quarterfinals, surviving a late push from the Crimson to advance.

In the Bermuda International Semifinals, Norwich delivered another gritty performance, securing a 17-12 victory over Maryland Black I (Maryland's first side).  The win showcased the Cadets' ability to execute under pressure, setting the stage for a championship rematch with Bermuda U23s.

Facing the host Bermuda U23s for the second time, Norwich battled hard in the Cup Final, but Bermuda's speed and clinical finishing proved decisive.  The home team pulled away in the second half, securing a 19-5 victory to claim the title.  Despite the loss, the Cadets finished as one of the tournament's top teams.

Adding to Norwich's success, Krebs was honored as Player of the Tournament, recognizing his standout performances across both days.  His dynamic play, leadership, and impact on both sides of the ball set him apart among the tournament's top athletes.

The Bermuda International 7s provided Norwich with an invaluable early-season test, allowing the team to compete against elite opposition while refining their sevens strategy.

With a strong second-place finish and a tournament MVP, the Cadets now shift their focus to the remainder of the sevens season, including the Old Blue 7s Tournament, hosted by Columbia University on Saturday, Mar. 29.
