Virginia Tech University

Virginia Tech rugby, incorporated in its current form on campus in 1968, is proud to represent the Hokie nation at the highest level of inter collegiate athletics. So far this fall, Tech has chalked up victories against Radford, Blacksburg and fellow ACRL team North Carolina while falling to James Madison and conference powerhouse Maryland in a close 15-5 contest that highlighted Tech’s emphasis on defense.

The Hokies have fielded eight All-Americans since 1987 and achieved a top-16 national ranking during that time. Rugby at Virginia Tech enjoys great alumni support including limited scholarships through the Tech Rugby Alumni Association. The team is led by Coach Bill Whalen.
