Game Cocks defeat Vols in #SCRC7s - Gainesville

In a rematch of their earlier contest the University of South Carolina (5-0) defeated the Tennessee Volunteers (3-2) twice today to win the #SCRC7s in Gainesville. The result was South Carolina over Tennessee 20-5 in pool play, but it was much closer in the final as the Game Cocks won by a margin of just six points by a score of 27-21.

Auburn (2-1-2) finally strung a few wins together after tying their first two matches including a pool tie to their eventual Bowl finalist opponent Georgia. The Tigers then lost to Tennessee 0-17 in the Cup quarterfinals. In the Bowl final, Auburn defeated the Georgia Bulldogs (2-2-1) by a score of 20-5. The Bulldogs lost to 'Bama 22-nil in the Cup quarters, then defeated Mississippi State 14-12, before facing the Tigers in the final.

For the first time in history, the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference (SCRC) Spring Season will focus on Olympic-style 7s rugby. The SCRC is hosted the first of three sevens tournaments in Gainesville on March 21, 2015. The three Sevens Series Championship events are open to any USA Rugby recognized collegiate program. The Sevens Series tournaments will also serve as a qualifying event for the SCRC Championship Tournament.
