After the weather caused cancelation of the first two 7s tournaments in the Cardinals Conference 7s series, the third event took place in Newport News, VA on Sunday 22 March. The tournament was hosted by the HEAT Elite and 6 teams participated: James Madison University (JMU), Old Dominion University (ODU), Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), the University of Richmond, HEAT I and HEAT II.
In pool play, JMU and ODU went undefeated taking the top seed in their respective pool and earning spots in the semi-finals. The other semi-finalists were determined by crossover matches between the #2 and #3 teams in each pool.
